- Malacaang has asked the Government Service Insurance System to relax its rules barring members with outstanding obligations from taking out additional loans.
- A group of local food manufacturers and exporters is asking for a P150-million loan from the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund to help them improve their facilities and meet the strict requirements of the United States and the European Union.
- The International Monetary Fund is concerned about policy continuity if President Arroyo fails to get a fresh mandate this coming May, according to Finance Secretary Juanita D. Amatong.
- A member of a multisectoral task force that reviewed the country's agricultural trade policies is asking the Department of Agriculture to authorize its negotiators in the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (WTO) to begin talks that would continue the quantitative import restriction on rice.
- The national government plans to reissue promissory notes as payment for the advances the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas earlier made representing the country's membership dues to the International Monetary Fund.
