-- Visit Japan Campaign promotional video features Japanese leader --

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi bids the world a warm welcome to Japan in a new promotional video produced as part of a campaign to double the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan.

Created for the Visit Japan Campaign (VJC), the short video entitled Yokoso! Japan will be first broadcast in the United States, one of the countries and regions identified by the VJC as priority markets, as a 30-second advertising spot on CNN Headline News more than a hundred times between March 1 and March 31.

The campaign is built around the theme of yokoso, a Japanese expression of welcome that conveys the appreciation to those who have made the trip to Japan, as well as a spirit of hospitality they can expect.

Prime Minister Koizumi is the first Japanese leader to appear in a video promoting Japan as an attractive holiday destination for foreign visitors.
