RODRIGO Eje, 38, has come a long way from a blind masseurs' clinic in Cubao.
Eje, the favorite masseur of Metro Manila's Catholic clergy, yesterday finished a 42-kilometer-long distance run, setting a record as the first totally blind Filipino runner to complete a full marathon.
Eje, who was runner 387, clocked 5 hours and 30 minutes when he reached the finish line at 10 a.m. He ran with Gomburza, the team of running priest Fr. Robert Reyes, starting at 4:30 a.m. from Intramuros, Manila all the way to Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
The Pasig Heritage marathon, organized by the Save the Pasig River foundation, was Eje's first long distance run.
