DESPITE government efforts to curb audio and video piracy, elusive vendors of counterfeit CDs and VCDs continue to operate even right under the nose of lawmen in Caloocan City and Quezon City.
Several vendors openly sell their wares, including pornographic VCDs, along Rizal Avenue Extension in Monumento, Caloocan and Tandang Sora Market and Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
But policemen, instead of going after the illegal vendors, can be seen elbowing out legitimate buyers just to take their own pick of pirated VCDs and CDs.
In Monumento, motorcycle-riding policemen can often be seen making the rounds one after the other to collect their copy of the latest pirated smut films.
