FRESH from signing a multi-fight, multimillion-dollar deal with cable giant HBO, reigning consensus featherweight king Manny Pacquiao is about to be bestowed with what is perhaps the highest honor in boxing-US- based Ring Magazine's championship belt.
Ring Magazine's Nigel Collins will be flying in on March 5 to award Pacquiao with the belt.
Pacquiao earned the right to wear the coveted strap after his stunning demolition of then featherweight king Marco Antonio Barera in November in San Antonio, Texas, a fight the Ring declared in its latest issue to be the biggest upset of 2003.
The award will put Pacquiao alongside other pugilistic greats who have recently received The Ring belt, such as Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Ricardo Mayorga, Corey Spinks, Kosta Tsyu and Barrera.
