IF JOAN Campese is a good judge, Canberra Raiders teen sensation Terry Campese will become a better footballer than his famous uncle. ''Growing up as a kid, Terry always wanted to kick the ball around when I went down to see him in Queanbeyan,'' legendary Wallabies winger David Campese recalls. ''I was still playing at the time, so I didn't see him that often. But my mum [Joan] kept on telling me he was better than I was.'' Terry, 19, started at five- eighth in last night's trial match against the Melbourne Storm in Wagga. Raiders coaches have predicted big things for the giant playmaker this year. While Terry's Raiders team- mates call him ''Campo'' and often get him to re-enact his uncle's famous over-the- shoulder pass to Tim Horan, David says he had nothing to do with developing Terry's talent. ''None at all,'' David says of his influence. ''People get jealous. I think it's important people do realise he's done everything himself. There's no influence at all; he's done it on his own ability. ''It's his career and his opportunities and whatever happens, he takes the credit. I don't take the credit for anything because I'm not there. He's the one with the talent.'' David, of course, was the winger with the goosestep who played a record 101 rugby union Tests for Australia and scored an international record 64 Test tries.
