Quarry players say short lease terms curbing tech investment.

MALAYSIA'S quarry industry has been avoiding to invest in new technology for its operations due to short lease terms for their respective sites.

Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said a longer lease term should encourage the industry players to invest further in technology to improve efficiency.

"State governments should have a change in attitude that a hill is not only a hill but has great value in it. "Through giving longer leases to potential good quarry operators who are willing to invest, they will get the maximum benefits from the hill," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur after opening a …
