Court ruling on Aum boss Matsumoto due today

The Tokyo District Court will hand down its ruling on Chizuo Matsumoto, the founder of the Aum Supreme Truth cult, on Friday on charges, including murder, stemming from 13 incidents, including the cult's sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system in March 1995.

The court's decision on Matsumoto, 48, comes seven years and 10 months after the first hearing at the district court. A total of 256 hearings have been held in the case. Friday's ruling will be the final district court ruling to be handed down for the …
