The Housing Minister Francis Babu has asked tile manufacturers to make building products more affordable.

"You should explore the option of diversifying into low-cost building materials so our people can get access," Babu said.

"The niche exists in the market, the question is how quickly you can take advantage of it before someone else displaces you," Babu said.

He was launching a new South African brand of roofing tiles at Sheraton Hotel, on February 19.
