Thirty years after gender equity for students became the law of the land under Title IX, we're still a long way from the goal. High school girls have 1.1 million fewer sports opportunities than boys. College women athletes have 30% fewer opportunities and $133 million less in scholarships.
Yet Deborah Brake, associate professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh PA, is more hopeful for the future of college athletics than she was a year ago.
