The University of Pennsylvania has selected another woman to serve as president. Dr. Amy Gutmann, provost of Princeton University MA, will succeed Judith Rodin, who retires July 1 after 10 years as president. Penn is the only Ivy League school with two female presidents in a row.

Gutmann brings top credentials from one Ivy League school to another. At age 54, she is a professor of political philosophy and the founding director of Princeton's University Center for Human Values.

"I'm tremendously excited to be given the opportunity to lead one of our oldest and most distinguished research universities," Gutmann said, citing its "enormous energy and a dynamic spirit."
