HUIZHOU, February 24, SinoCast -- Different from TCL Group's stock-market listing on January 30, the process of which is considered to be excellent, the decision to enter a color TV joint venture with Thomson is deemed to face huge risk that is equal to the opportunity there.

TCL Group, one of the leading home appliance conglomerates in China, has signed a deal with France-based Thomson, whereby both partners will set up a joint venture TCL Thomson Electronics (TTE) with an investment of up to USD 557 million.

The new Sino-French joint venture will integrate the color TV and multimedia assets from both shareholders. …
