THE UVF were behind the failed attempt to bomb the heart out of Ballycastle's Oul' Lammas Fair two years ago, Belfast Crown Court has heard.

Mr Justice Weatherup also heard that had the bomb plot succeeded anyone within 300 to 400 yards of the car bomb "would have been charred".

The court has already heard that a slither of shinny black paint on the bomb timer unit prevented it exploding, but that "if everything did go in that worst case scenerio you would get a massive fireball and anyone close to that would get very seriously injured if not killed".
