Boracay coastline beckons vacationers.

Travelling through the 7,107 or so islands of the Philippines, finding stunning natural scenery is not difficult but there is one island that stands out. Here you can find a four-kilometre-long white sandy beach, turquoise blue waters and romantic sunset. The island is Boracay, part of the Visayas region.

The island is 345 kilometres south of Manila. It's nine kilometres and spread over 2,563.86 acres (1,038 hectare). At its narrowest point Boracay is only one kilometre wide.

Boracay is also known as gateway to paradise. Due to its natural beauty, the island is a top beach in Asia. In 1990 it was voted by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook as one of the best beaches in the world and again in 1996 by British publication TV Quick as the world's number one tropical beach.

It took Philippines Airlines three hours to fly us from Bangkok to Manila and another hour to Iloilo, a domestic airport in the southern part of Panay Island. Boracay is located on the northwestern tip of Panay Island and can be reached only by boat.
