THERE was widespread celebrations amongst all peoples in Nigeria both at home and abroad on the country's victory over Cameroon in the current African Nations' Cup Football competition in Tunisia. Also celebrating was President Obasanjo and his advisers, including the inspector general of police Tafa Balogun. Nigeria had not in the recent past beaten Cameroon in these tournaments and ecstatic newspaper sub-editors in the country's newspapers and newsmagazines would be forgiven if they came up in the next few days with sensational headlines ranging from "We've Crushed Cameroon!" to "The Jinx is Broken At Last!"
