Alyscia Mak and Jon Pan
Some say romance is dead, but that is certainly not the case for Alyscia and Jon, who were together for eight years before tying the knot eight years ago.
"Our story is a good one," says Alyscia, who is general manager of Cerruti Asia Pacific. "Jon and I met a long time ago in Singapore, but at the time I was seeing someone else. But Cupid was there from the beginning. I found him charming and handsome, although my mind did not think beyond that. After our first meeting he stayed in contact but would always keep his distance to give me some space. The fun part came when I called it quits with my then-boyfriend and decided to be the one to call Jon for a change. He picked up the phone expecting a business call and was surprised to hear my voice. You could hear his jubilation. That gave me confidence, and I was bold enough to ask him about his dinner invitation months ago. The rest is history."
Although Alyscia and Pan have a 10-year age gap between them, romance is still very much alive in their marriage.
"Jon is wonderful because he makes me feel like I am in love every day. We both work hard and travel, but we try to co-ordinate our schedules so we can be together.
"Our most memorable Valentine's Day was when I painted my wife in the nude as a gift," says Jon, a project designer. "She was away in Italy and I missed her so much …
