A single-use, ingestible capsule that contains a tiny video camera. After it is swallowed by a patient, it takes video images of the small intestine as peristalsis moves it through the small and large intestines. The device is designed to visualize the inside of the entire small intestine to detect polyps, cancer, or causes of bleeding and anemia, "enabling doctors to see areas that the endoscope cannot reach," according to the FDA.
