Digene Corp announced that payers representing more than 100 M individuals now are covering the DNAwithPap Test for cervical cancer screening, signalling achievement of a key reimbursement milestone. Since Nov 2003, four major Blue Cross Blue Shield plans revised their policies to cover the test, in conjunction with a Pap smear, for routine cervical cancer screening in women aged 30 years and older. These plans joined other large payers already covering the test for primary screening, including Aetna and Cigna.
