HANOI, Feb 4 Asia Pulse - Vietnam Airlines will has set a target of becoming a powerful economic conglomerate, a sizable carrier in the region with its own identity from now to 2010, according to its strategy for the 2005-2010 period announced on January 30.

The total number of aircraft owned and leased by Vietnam Airlines, the charter flight provider Vasco and Pacific Airlines, in which Vietnam Airlines holds an 86 per cent stake, should reach 49 in 2005 and 73 in 2010.

Vietnam Airlines is set to become more competitive this year with the delivery of six new aircraft it bought last year.
