The deployment of troops of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), in some parts of Nimba County, northern Liberia, has to some extent improved situations as private and public institutions begin pre-school activities.

However, there are reports that some of the school going children in Nimba are now carrying arms for various warring factions in the country.

The situation has created concern for educational authorities in the county, including the Principal of the St. Lawrence Catholic School in Ganta, Patrick Dolo.
