SEOUL, Feb 2 Asia Pulse - Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) (KSE:004940) said Thursday it appointed Columbia University business professor Robert Fallon as its new head, a move the bank's labor union considers invalid.
The decision came during a board of directors meeting that immediately followed a shareholders meeting at the bank's headquarters in central Seoul in the morning.
Lee Dal-yong, who has been the acting president since the bank's former president tendered his resignation in November, will become chief financial officer, according to the bank.
Fallon, 57, has some 26 years of business experience in the financial industry, having worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, JP Morgan, Bankers Trust and Citibank, mostly in Japan.
He has also been an active member of the Korea Society, a New York-based organization on Korean affairs.
