NEW DELHI, Feb 2 Asia Pulse - In a bid to provide fresh impetus to exports, the Indian goverment on Wednesday fine-tuned its Exim Policy, allowing free import of gold, silver and power, and extended the duty-free import scheme to heritage and small hotels and restaurants to encourage tourism.
The Government of India also launched a new Gold Card scheme for credit-worthy exporters with good track record to allow them to give "credit on very best terms". The Scheme would be worked out by Reserve Bank of India.
Apart from free import of gold and silver, the Indian government also allowed duty-free import of fuel by manufacturing sectors to offset high power costs.
