It is almost two years since Computer Sciences Corporation sold most of its UK broking systems business to a new company formed by four of its former managers. Insurance Newslink met up recently in London with chief executive of Software Solutions Partners(SSP), David Rasche, to check on the company's latest positioning.
SSP acquired a business of over 2600 customer sites and 170 staff. Rasche emphasised that customer service had been improved and he was proud of the ten commitments and guarantees that had been introduced. A more conservative accounting policy was been followed and a good cashflow position had been achieved.
Under CSC, the company had been mainly known for its presence in personal lines but the close involvement with Maven Technologies' INSIGHT software, well established in South Africa, indicates the future ambitions of SSP. INSIGHT can be implemented across large commercial brokers, underwriting agencies and small insurers - Standard Bank in South Africa has 500 users where INSIGHT replaced Huon, now part of The Innovation Group. SSP owns the intellectual property rights of the software for the rest of the world outside South Africa, Australasia, and the Middle East and have taken a stake in Bitsys in Ireland who also work with the same technology.
