T HIS HIGHLY acclaimed production, which had its premiere during the OA's 1997 Sydney season, was created by director Moffat Oxenbould in association with the design team of Russell Cohen and Peter England, and with references to traditional Japanese theatre - Kabuki for colour, costumes and movement, and Noh, for the simple but evocative setting - and realised in singing and orchestral playing of the highest quality. It remains in my memory as one of the finest productions of this opera I have enjoyed over the years.
