The New National Party launched its rural election campaign in the Western Cape on Saturday with an appeal to white farmers to commit to the upliftment of their coloured "brothers and sisters". "The history of South Africa has ensured that much of the skills and know-how are in the hands of white farmers," NNP leader Marthinus van Schalkwyk told a gathering of about 90 farmworkers and farmers in a vineyard on Bouwland farm outside Stellenbosch.
