(From Philippine Daily Inquirer)
Byline: Doris C. Dumlao
AT 65, ERNEST Leung is fitness and vigor personified-the priceless reward of his unwavering passion for sports and the outdoors all his life.
This newly retired Philippine Stock Exchange president-who was also once a finance minister, a banking regulator, a development banker, an international monetary expert and a high school teacher-has had more adventures than the average person can ever dream of in a lifetime.
Although Ernest's current flame (next to his wife) is badminton, he also loves scuba-diving, running, mountain-climbing, gardening, whitewater rafting, spear-fishing, rapelling, hiking, swimming, rock-climbing, skating, biking as well as riding canoes or kayak.
He engaged in many sports in different stages of his life. He played soccer and basketball in Ateneo's intramurals, which were pretty often those days.
He was also into tennis and squash. He and wife Edwina shifted to badminton in the '90s, initially thinking it was a "sissy" game but which was less strenuous than squash. He was proven wrong, of course, and never regretted being hooked into this sport.
