GUIMARAS Province-Asian aquathlon champion Josephine Pilapil is Manila's best bet in the junior division of the Guimaras National Triathlon Championships today at the Raymen Beach Resort here.
The 16-year-old lass from Palawan is part of the field of about 80 participants of the event, organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines, wherein the top fi-nishers of the men's and women's elite under-23 and junior division will take home a total of P100,000.
The event is also a basis for the selection of the new 7-member national team and serves as qualifier for the Asian Triathlon Championships to be held in April.
Pilapil, who is a member of her high school's swim team, originally joined the Asian aquathlon in Boracay under the junior division but was elevated to the women's elite category where she bagged top honors.
