A MYSTERIOUS fire gutted yesterday the 6th floor office of Sen. Loren Legarda at the Senate building on Roxas Boulevard, destroying vital documents and computers containing her legislative record since 1998.
"Nasunog ang office ko (My office was burned). It's unbelievable," Legarda, who is the opposition's vice presidential candidate, told the Inquirer.
Legarda's camp immediately suspected arson behind the blaze. Firemen had not yet determined the cause of the fire.
Based on initial investigation, the blaze started at around 6:30 a.m. It was extinguished two hours later.
Fifteen firetrucks responded, but Senate security men helped put out the fire using fire extinguishers.
