THE NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation has begun checking out alleged incidents of rice smuggling at the Bureau of Customs upon the request of the Department of Justice.

An NBI official privy to the matter said the request was made by Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuno himself.
