ILOILO CITY-At least seven cities and 26 towns in Western and Eastern Visayas have been identified by the Philippine National Police as areas of concern (AOCs), or hotspots, in the May elections.
In Western Visayas, Iloilo province has the most AOCs with 12. These are Iloilo City and the towns of Alimodian, Anilao, Duenas, Igbaras, Lambunao, Lemery, Maasin, San Dionisio, San Enrique, San Joaquin and Sara.
Negros Occidental has five-the towns of Calatrava and Moises Padilla, and the cities of Cadiz, Sagay and Silay.
The towns of Bugasong, Culasi, Valderama and Sebaste in Antique were also listed as AOCs. In Capiz, the PNP categorized Roxas City and the towns of Dumarao and Cuartero as AOCs.
In Eastern Visayas, the cities of Calbayog in Samar and Ormoc in Leyte were classified as potential flash points, along with the Leyte towns of Merida, Palompon, Albuera and Isabel; and the Samar towns of Gandara, Sta. Margarita and Pagsanjan.
