IS DEFENSE Secretary Eduardo Ermita on the way out?
Sources at Camp Aguinaldo, the military headquarters, told the Inquirer Ermita would soon be leaving the Department of National Defense to Leandro Mendoza, current secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC). In turn, former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes, now head of the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Force (Naktf), will take over at the DOTC.
Talk of Ermita's departure resurfaced on Tuesday after one defense undersecretary reportedly told his staff to prepare for a new defense secretary.
Sources said the changes could take effect tomorrow. Mendoza reportedly visited the defense department last Friday to "check out the offices."
