SK Corp. loss narrows on surging margins.

By Rafael Nam Amid a showdown with its largest foreign shareholder, SK Corp., the nation's largest oil refiner, said yesterday its net loss in the fourth quarter narrowed on surging operating margins. The company reported a net loss of 73.5 billion won ($62.7 million) for the last three months of last year, significantly lower than the 345.2 billion won loss it reported in the same period of 2002. Sales declined to 3.64 trillion won from 3.69 trillion won.

The improved results came despite the 267 billion won in provisions set aside by SK Corp. against losses at sister affiliates in the fourth quarter. The bailout of SK Networks, …
