Canberra woman Ana Louise Hardwick feared for her life after winning custody of her two children less than two weeks before she was found dead in her Isabella Plains home, the ACT Magistrates Court heard yesterday. Steven Wayne Hillier has been charged with murdering his former de facto partner between September 30 and October 2, 2002. He has been excused from attending the hearing that will determine if he must stand trial. Ms Hardwick's lawyer, Carlos Turini, said Ms Hardwick had appeared anxious after winning custody of the former couple's two children in the Family Court on September 20.
