In every major city and a host of small towns there exists a cadre of guitarists who front local bands, staples of the club circuit, generally taking second billing behind a recording artist's club tour. Detroit has Jim McCarty, Seattle has Billy Stapleton, Washington has Bill Kirchen, and so on. Sometimes you can't name "em all, but you know who they are. Their bands are sometimes signed to small, local labels and more often distribute self-produced CDs from the stage or a card table outside the club. Sometimes these CDs are wondrous nuggets, but more often are sedate copies of an exciting live act. LA's Jeff Pryor is one of these guys, having labored mightily on the club circuit for 20+ years.
