The Fans Speak Out
While we know how notorious Red Sox management has been with trades, and how they have always been in need of good, left-handed pitching, why did they trade and who did they get in return for lefties Mike Stanton and Jamie Moyer?
Doug Cooke Tequesta, Fla.
Moyer was traded by the Red Sox on July 30, 1996 to the Mariners for outfielder Darren Bragg. Stanton was dealt to the Rangers on July 31, 1996 for pitchers Mark Brandenburg and Kerry Lacy.
Both Moyer and Stanton were slated to become free agents in October of that year, probably one of the reasons management traded them away rather than trying to resign them.
What states have produced the most Hall of Fame players? I'm guessing either Texas or California.
James Soderman Richfield, Minn.
