Many potentially hazardous products aren't repaired or replaced because getting authoritative information about recalled vehicles, toys, appliances, and other goods can be hard to do.
That situation changed for the better in late November, when the federal government launched www.recalls.gov, a Web site that offers easy, one-stop access to detailed information about thousands of recalls.
