Children conceived through intracytoplasmic sperm injection are no more likely than other children to experience neurodevelopmental problems, perinatal morbidity, postnatal health problems, or congenital abnormalities, according to a case-control study
The study compared 208 singleton children, mean age 17 months, who were conceived via intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with 221 singletons conceived through traditional means, said Dr. Alastair C. Sutcliffe of the Royal Free and University College Medical School, London, and colleagues (Lancet 357[9274]:2080-84, 2001).
