Jay Todd of Holladay City, Utah, recently retired after three decades as editor of Ensign, a magazine published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This year, the award-winning journalist and author decided to dabble in politics by running for mayor of Holladay, a suburb of Salt Lake City with a population of about 20,000. In the five-candidate October 6 primary, he placed third, failing to qualify for the November run-off.
