CHINA, January 15, SinoCast -- In 2003, an array of shake- ups took place in the global search engine market. In February, Overture acquired Fast and Altavista. In August, Yahoo! Inc.

(Yahoo!) bought Overture. In October, Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) announced the entry into the search engine market.

In November, Yahoo! purchased 3721 Network Software Company Limited (Hong Kong 3721), an arm of China-based Beijing 3721 Technology Co., Ltd. (Beijing 3721). In December, Huicong International Information Co., Ltd. (HII) was listed in Hong Kong, then it spun off its search division to independently operate it.
