Ceria Nanoparticles Formed by Mechanochemical Synthesis. Scientists from the Research Center for Advanced Mineral and Materials Processing at the University of Western Australia (Perth, Western Australia) have synthesized ultrafine cerium dioxide (Ce[O.sub.2]) powders via mechanochemicai reaction followed by calcination. The process involves mechanically milling anhydrous Ce[Cl.sub.3] and NaOH powders, along with NaCI diluent.
