* John Candler, who coached 16 All-American divers at North Carolina State University in his 36 years there, lost his career. He resigned after chancellor Marye Anne Fox got an email alerting her to a charge against him in 1966, when he pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with a 12-year-old girl.
Candler, who also pleaded guilty to a charge of taking indecent liberties with a 15-year-old girl in 1985, said the school knew earlier about both incidents. "I find it indefensible to get so much media out of old information that is known by everybody," he said.
