BANKING in Uganda, could potentially become more accessible, easier and competitive with the introduction of the 'automated teller machines' (ATMs) inter-bank switch technology.

The switch system will for example, enable a Nile Bank ATM cardholder to use ATM services offered by say Crane Bank.

Bankom, a local electronic financial transaction services provider was in August 2003, selected as Uganda's national inter bank switch provider by the Uganda Bankers Association following a strict evaluation process.
