Just seven months after rejecting an increase in taxes to pay for public safety, Henderson residents are being asked again.
In November, Henderson voters rejected by an 865-vote margin an initiative that would have increased taxes by $126 per year for the owner of a $150,000 home.
If approved on June 5, the new tax initiative would pay for 166 police officers, 30 firefighters and paramedics, and 40 civilian public safety employees over seven years.
City leaders blame themselves for the November failure, saying they did not explain the importance of the issue well enough to voters.
