Abstract
This paper illustrates how the theories of cognitivism and constructivism can improve work performance. Cognitivists embrace the idea that to explain learning behaviors it is necessary to refer to internal mental processes and states. They therefore attempt to look inside the head of the learner to see what mental processes are involved in the learning process. Constructivism is a particular kind of cognitive theory that is based on the work of the Swiss developmental psychologist Jean Piaget.
