THE Irish Government will take up the EU Presidency for the sixth time today.

During the coming six months, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, pictured left, will chair meetings of EU leaders and become the public face of Europe.

Ireland will host over 100 meetings including major international summits with world leaders.

It will be the focus of official ceremony and celebration as 10 new countries join the EU on May 1, taking membership to 25.

Responsibility for the new constitution now also falls with the Irish Presidency as EU leaders failed to agree new terms ...
