SYDNEY, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - Thomson Financial's Australian Debt League Table Rankings for 2003, released today, found that Australian corporate debt raised totalled $US81.25 billion in 2003, up almost 50 per cent from 2002.

"This represents a 46 per cent jump from $US55.5 billion of funds raised during the previous year," Thomson said.

Australian dollar bond issuance settled at $US22.6 billion in 2003 from 102 bond transactions, compared with 113 deals and .9 billion in volume 2002, it said.

"The vast majority of issues came from the financial sector, which raised a significant $US19.1 billion of paper, equivalent to 85 per cent of the total domestic issuance," it said.

"Increased supply was also seen from the energy and power, and consumer products and services sectors."
