THE COUNTRY celebrates today the 112th birth anniversary of President Manuel A. Roxas.
Roxas holds the distinction of being the only president who led two Philippine governments.
He was the last president of the Philippine Commonwealth and the first president of the Third Philippine Republic, which is currently in place.
Roxas was the first bar topnotcher to hold the highest post in the land. He got a 92-percent rating in the bar exams.
Born in the municipality of Capiz (later renamed Roxas City in his honor) in the province of Capiz in 1892 to Gerardo Roxas and Rosario Acuna, Roxas had his basic education in schools in Capiz, Hong Kong and Manila.
