A DEADLY fire ate up almost everything they had as 2003 came to a close. In spite of this, fire victims in Caloocan City are going into 2004 with hope blazing in their hearts.
Renato Bico, 47, said he and his family would be meeting the New Year lying on flattened carton boxes under a military tent or talking about how they would rebuild their lives.
On Monday night, a six-hour fire razed the homes of 900 families along 2nd Avenue and killed three persons. The victims lost most of their belongings.
"I wanted to cook something but we lost our stove in the fire. We also don't have anything to cook," Bico's wife Rosalina, 51, told the Inquirer yesterday.
Yet they are not giving up.
