DAGUPAN CITY-From this city will come the fish that will feed the country, President Macapagal-Arroyo said here on Friday.

The President said this city's status as the country's "bangus (milkfish) capital" is becoming a reality with the inauguration of the Philippine Bangus Center (PBC) in Barangay Bonuan Binloc and the modern Dagupan Fish Market in downtown Dagupan. Ms Macapagal also released P20 million for the establishment of a bangus processing plant here.

The President also assured about 5,000 Pangasinan officials and residents that the province will play a vital role in rice production in the country. She said Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi promised that the Japanese government would finance the construction of an irrigation project that will be connected to the San Roque multi-purpose dam in San Manuel town to irrigate ...
