NO, this particular chair doesn't aspire to a seat in the Senate.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chair Bayani Fernando yesterday said he had turned down President Macapagal Arroyo's offer to join the ruling party's senatorial slate.
Fernando said the President, who attended Marikina's fireworks display on Tuesday night, discussed the slot in the 12-person ticket that the Lakas-CMD party had reserved for him.
"I told her I would not make a good senator because I lack experience in legislation," Fernando, who prefers to be called Chairman, said in a phone interview.
"I think she respects my decision as I respect hers," Fernando added. Fernando had offered himself as the President's running mate, but Ms Macapagal chose Sen. Noli de Castro.
